Eco-Schools is an international initiative designed to encourage whole-school action on sustainable development education issues. It is a means to help us manage our school and local community’s environment. It empowers our young people to take action towards an economically, socially and environmentally just world.
The initiative provides a framework for learning and action which provides a wealth of opportunities for linking sustainable development education with the everyday curricular work undertaken by schools – as well as enabling and encouraging closer links between schools and the communities around them.
The topics which are the focus are
- 3.Health & wellbeing
- 5.Waste minimisation
- 7.School grounds
- 9.Sustaining our World
- 10.Food & the environment
Last year we attained our Green Flag and we look forward to taking forward new and exciting initiatives this year to continue to encourage our young people, in conjunction with our local community, to work towards creating an even more sustainable school environment.
The school’s areas of focus this year will be on:
Litter, Health and Wellbeing and Biodiversity.
