Malawi news and photographs – have a look!!

Team Malawi

In 2014/2015, Bannockburn High School staff and pupils made their first visit to Malawi for what was a truly life changing experience. Over the course of the session, they worked tirelessly to organise a wide variety of activities designed to raise funds for the trip and also for the charity ‘Classrooms for Malawi’.

Throughout the session, they organised events such as bingo evenings, the Christmas Fayre and sponsored events; even singing Christmas Carols at various locations across Stirling to promote their forthcoming adventure and raise funds.

Towards the end of the session, the group held a highly successful Spring/Summer fayre, with over 40 stall holders selling a wide range of goods. One very special guest came along to the fayre to lend his support; Lord McConnell. He praised the endeavour and spirit of the group for their tireless work and was very happy to offer his support in person and via twitter.

On June 24th, the group embarked upon their travels to Malawi, with a very lengthy journey in front of them. Upon their arrival though, they were greeted with some very enthusiastic and excited pupils; keen to see what their visitors were going to contribute. Over the course of the next few days, our pupils engaged in decorating, building and obviously interacting with their new friends.

The staff and pupils completed their work before enjoying some rest and sampling some of the finest African views. Each person has spoken of the impact that this experience has had on them personally but it has also taught them the true value of education.

For our students who were completing their final year at Bannockburn High School, they really ended their time with an outstanding experience.
