Amnesty International

The school runs a very active and successful Amnesty Group comprising of pupils of all ages. They meet once a week during a Thursday lunch time in Room 320. As well as weekly campaigning for those people in our world who have had their human rights violated, the group also organise yearly events: Amnesty Party at the end of October to raise event awareness of human rights and encourage campaigning; Amnestey for staff on the nearest Friday to Human Rights Day (1st December) to raise funds for Amnesty by selling cakes, tea and coffee; Second-hand Book Sale on the Thursday/Friday lunch times nearest to World Book Day to promote reading and also to raise funds for Amnesty’s work. In addition the group work recycle mobile phones for Amnesty and promote human rights awareness with a table at all parents’ evenings.
